Bundesliga 2026 — broadcast rights overview
The Bundesliga is Germany's top football league, contested by 18 clubs over a 34-match league season running from August to May. Bayern Munich dominates global audience interest alongside Borussia Dortmund (whose Yellow Wall at Signal Iduna Park is one of the most iconic atmospheres in European football), Bayer Leverkusen, RB Leipzig and Eintracht Frankfurt.
In Germany the rights are split between Sky Deutschland (most matches including Saturday afternoon) and DAZN (Friday and Sunday matches plus selected Saturday). Outside Germany, the US picture changed for the 2026-27 season (from August 2026): Versant's USA Sports is the new English-language home — USA Network plus the free, ad-supported Fandango streaming service — replacing ESPN, while Sky Sports carries the league in the UK.
Germany — Sky + DAZN combination
Sky Deutschland holds rights to most Bundesliga matches and offers them via WOW (the streaming sibling) at €19.99/month annual plan or €30.99/month month-to-month. WOW is the cheapest legitimate "watch most matches" option in Germany.
DAZN Germany holds rights to Friday matches, Sunday matches, and selected Saturday matches. The annual plan at €24.99/month or month-to-month at €34.99 covers the DAZN portion of the league.
Neither single subscription gives you every match. Hardcore fans need both at €44.98/month combined annually — significantly more than other European top-flight viewers pay for full coverage.
There is no consistent free-to-air Bundesliga coverage in Germany. ARD's Sportschau highlights show on Saturday evening is the only legitimate free overview of every Saturday match.
United States — free on Fandango, plus USA Network
The US picture changed for the 2026-27 season (from August 2026). Versant's USA Sports is the new English-language home of the Bundesliga in the United States, replacing ESPN and ESPN+. The English-language coverage splits two ways: at least 30 matches a season air on USA Network (the cable channel, which needs a TV or streaming subscription that carries it), and — the headline for a cost-conscious fan — all the other matches stream FREE on Fandango, Versant's ad-supported streaming service, with no subscription required. That makes the US one of the cheapest places in the world to watch the Bundesliga: the bulk of the season is free.
On the Spanish-language side, NBCUniversal's Telemundo and Universo carry 100-plus matches a season, with every match available to stream on Peacock. So a Spanish-speaking US fan has Telemundo and Universo on broadcast plus Peacock for the full slate.
Because these US deals were only announced in July 2026 and start in August, the exact match splits, the Fandango service's availability across devices, and any Peacock pricing are still being finalized — check what USA Network, Fandango and Peacock currently carry at sign-up. What is clear: ESPN and ESPN+ no longer hold Bundesliga rights in the US, and the free Fandango route makes most of the season no-cost.
United Kingdom — Sky Sports via NOW
Sky Sports Football carries the Bundesliga in the UK. Access is via NOW Sports Membership at £14.99/month, which is the cheapest legal route. There is no contract — sign up for the matchweek and cancel.
There is no free-to-air Bundesliga coverage in the UK in 2026.
For fans who only want Der Klassiker (Bayern vs Dortmund), the NOW Sports 24-hour pass option (£14.99 minimum spend now via Sports Membership) covers the fixture.
India, Australia, Canada and worldwide
India: Sony LIV Premium at ₹299/month carries every Bundesliga match.
Australia: beIN Sports Connect at A$19.99/month carries every match.
Canada: fubo Canada and TSN both carry the Bundesliga via various tiers.
France: beIN Sports Sport Pass at €15/month carries every match.
MENA: beIN Sports holds exclusive rights.
Japan: DAZN Japan at ¥3,700/month.
For every other market, the Bundesliga is broadcast widely — open a fixture page on Matchcast and toggle the country selector for the local broadcaster.
Best-value combinations and free options
The Bundesliga is one of the harder major European leagues to watch cheaply inside Germany, where the rights are split between two paid services. Outside Germany the picture is much better — and for 2026-27 the US becomes the standout.
Cheapest legal routes globally:
- US: FREE on Fandango for most matches (Versant's ad-supported streaming home from the 2026-27 season), with USA Network carrying at least 30 matches a season for subscribers
- India: Sony LIV at ₹299/month (~$3.50)
- UK: NOW Sports at £14.99/month (Sky-rights matches only — but that's most of them)
- France: beIN Sports at €15/month
From the 2026-27 season most Bundesliga matches stream free on Fandango in the US, so an American fan can follow the bulk of the league at no cost — a rare thing for a major European league.
Beyond that, free options are largely highlights — ARD Sportschau in Germany, and YouTube-based highlights packages from the official Bundesliga channel that go up 24-48 hours after each match.
Der Klassiker (Bayern vs Dortmund) twice per season is the marquee fixture. In the US it will be on Fandango (free) or USA Network depending on the slate; the NOW Sports 7-day trial in the UK and the JioCinema free tier in India can also cover individual marquee matches at no cost.
